Hypothyroidism in childhood: fragmentation of the femoral capital epiphyses.
This AP view of the pelvis shows delay in ossification, with fragmentation and hypoplasia of the femoral capital epiphyses. Fragmentation of the ossification centres of the femoral heads might suggest the diagnosis of bilateral Perthes' disease, however, symmetrical involvement would be excessively rare in that condition.
